Join the Fighting HIV Stigma and Proud march

Saturday 18 March 2023

Gathers from 12pm at Forum Magnum Square, London, SE1

March will arrive at Trafalgar Square around 2pm where a vigil and short rally will be held

Dozens of groups, including us, are coming together for the Fighting HIV Stigma and Proud march.

We are really passionate about this message: this is a chance to stand together, loudly and proudly, against stigma, which is still widely experienced by people living with HIV today.

While the topic is serious, it’s going to be a fun and uplifting day – a celebration of the HIV community by members and allies.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Sunday November 20th at 6pm we mark Transgender Day of Remembrance with a special service honouring the names of Trans people who have been killed in the last year, and pray for an end to transphobic violence and abuse.

Anti-trans rhetoric may be on the increase, but we remain committed to affirming God’s love for all our trans and gender-diverse siblings just as they are, in all the fulness of their identities, and to bringing an end to transphobia.

UK Black Pride – Europe’s largest pride celebration for LGBTQI+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin American and Middle Eastern-descent – is returning to in-person on Sunday, 14 August, 2022, at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford. This year’s theme is Power.

MCC North London will be present, sharing a stall with our siblings of House of Rainbow, who share our vision of a church and world that acknowledges God’s love for LGBTQI+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin American and Middle Eastern-descent – standing in solidarity and faith with one another.

Pride in London this year is on Saturday 2nd July, and it is with joy that we are able to join in with marching and celebrating.
Pride March – This year we will join Christians Together at Pride in marching in the parade. Those who have a wristband to march with this group, we will gather at 1pm outside the Catholic church on Mount Street.

We will also have a group standing on the side offering a positive message of God’s love and affirmation of LGBTQI+ people.
Christians Together at Pride Service – Saturday 2nd July – 6pm, Bloomsbury Baptist Church. Speakers will be Rev Maureen Bailey, and Rev Peta Evans.
MCCNL Pride Service – Sunday 3rd July – 7pm at Trinity URC as usual.

Pride Month will be observed over the whole of July, with a sermon series focussing on Justice in Action.
Before church throughout July, starting at 4:30pm, we will have special sessions looking at the Bible, God and LGBT+, dealing with some of the pressing questions about what the Bible really has to say about sexuality and gender.

Upcoming Events: 20th April

Greetings all,

I pray that God is blessing you with good health and with a safe home. I know that these things are not in as good supply as they were previously, but I also know that for some us, these things were always hard to find! What I do know, is that the Love and Strength of God, and in Christ, is in as plentiful supply as ever!

I find myself leaning pretty heavily on the strength of God these days, but God has never let me down before, and I know God won’t let me down now.

We’re starting to settle into some kind of structure now, that works, but I’m putting out a survey so we can hear from you about what’s working for you and what isn’t.

Our attempts to livestream from Zoom onto Facebook have not gone well, so for the time being we are recording the service and then posting it up onto Facebook when it’s ready. Unfortunately, this takes rather a long time, especially the uploading time – most of us don’t have broadband – so we’ve decided that Monday evening at 7pm is the time for our Worship Service Watch Party. Please join if you haven’t been able to login on Zoom, or even if you have, and would just like to do church twice!

We are starting online Small Groups for prayer and Bible study. Please message us if you would like to join. At the moment we will have one group on a Wednesday evening at 7pm, but if enough people join, or if more people need a different day, we will look at doing more groups. We will be looking at the beautiful book by Richard Rohr: ‘The Universal Christ’, as our discussion starter. The book is available as a Kindle download for those who are able and want a copy of their own, but don’t worry, if you can’t (it’s quite pricey), it won’t matter.

And last but by no means least, we are also doing online Membership Classes. If you want to join these, please send me an email to: mccchurchnl@gmail.com, with your name, email address, and the date you started coming to MCC North London, and I can sign you up for the classes.

Pastor’s Message

My beloved MCC Family:

I am thinking of you all today – as I think and pray for you every day, but today is particularly stressful and difficult for many of us.

Please know that you are not forgotten, and we are working hard to stay in touch in many different ways.

We are never alone, because God is always with us, and God’s Love and Spirit connect us all together.

God’s grace uphold you, God’s peace surround you.
